What does it mean when we say that that Department of Procurement and Supplies Services (DPSS) Manages the “Common Service”?
Many people hear this and wonder what it actually means. In simple terms, DPSS is responsible for supporting and guiding procurement and supplies officers across the Malawi Government. This includes helping with recruitment, training, and ensuring that officers follow the right procedures when buying, managing, and disposing off public resources.
Why does this matter?
It matters because when procurement is done properly, Government saves money, avoids delays, and delivers services to the public more efficiently. In short, managing the common service helps ensure that the right things are bought, in the right way, at the right time.
